AHU Sustainability Report - 2025

The 2025 report updates the 2024 baseline with what the University has delivered since: the campus has moved from sustainability plans to measures that are now in place, from clean energy and afforestation to waste treatment, education and policy.

  • 2 × 1 MWdiesel generators removed
  • 166 kWsolar capacity, about 10% of campus electricity
  • 1,000trees planted so far, of 10,000
  • Local generators removed

The campus no longer runs on local diesel generators, removing the main source of on-site fuel emissions, noise and local air pollution.

  • Solar electricity

A new solar photovoltaic system now supplies part of the campus electricity and reduces demand on the grid.

  • 10,000 Trees project

Launched in May 2026, the project is planting 10,000 trees around the campus in phases, with students, staff and local residents taking part.

  • Waste treatment

Waste is now sorted and treated on campus, moving waste management from plans to practice.

  • SDG module for all first-level students

A 2-ECTS module on the Sustainable Development Goals is taught in every study programme.

  • Six sustainability policies

Policies on smoke-free campus, equality and inclusion, fair labour and pay equity are adopted and published.
